About Bricks and Sticks

“Bricks and Sticks?” people ask. “Why did you name your real estate company that?” The name came from a seasoned on site real estate agent. She reminded me, after a particularly difficult meeting with a home owner during the construction of their house that, “it’s all just bricks and sticks, tell them how great it looks.”

The comment stayed with me for a couple of reasons. First, it was insightful and memorable. Whether a house is a two room, 700 square foot cottage or a 10,000 square foot castle, it is made of bricks and sticks (sticks being slang for lumber). Second, it addressed the typical approach of real estate agents. A lot of agents tend to tell their clients how pretty or cute a house may be rather than focus on the total package.

After providing some advice for friends on a house they were considering purchasing and listening to several successful real estate agents only focus on the aesthetics and location of house, I saw an opportunity. I hypothesized that buyers and sellers would appreciate a total package approach to buying or selling a home. An approach that provided extensive customer care, building knowledge, market data, financial data, current market trends, repair knowledge, costs data, and of course aesthetics. Shortly after this hypothesis, I enrolled in real estate school, received my salesman’s license, broker’s license, firm license, and founded a company. I named the company after the on site agent’s comment to remind me of the reasons I entered this business and I though it was endearing.

Bricks and Sticks, LLC is a limited liability company in the state of North Carolina and is based at 2429 Millstone Harbor Drive, Raleigh, NC. The company holds a firm real estate license with state of North Carolina and Travis Smith is the broker-in-charge. The company was founded in February of 2005. The company is a full service real estate firm and a member of the Triangle Multiple Listing Services. Bricks and Sticks, LLC specializes in residential property in Wake County, North Carolina.
